Flannel

The flannel is

the closest

thing to comfort me

still me and

hold me

gently.

The flannel only

knows me

the measured breath

the covered breast

the fears and

the dreams

are kept.

The flannel has

room for

more than just me;

no jealous lover

yet exists

for me.

The flannel wants

not part of

me, my life or being.

If I come

or go

still

the flannel is.
